Here is a very easy trail for people of all ages. This trail is 80 to 95% accessible by (manual) wheelchair as well as electric scooter. If you have a very strong company, he or she can push you all the way to the Chimney Top Overlook area.
Trail: Very easy; Trail #235
Distance: 0.3 miles or ~ 500 meters. (From the trailhead to the Chimney Top Overlook.)
Time required for walking: 30 minutes for healthy person, less than 60 minutes for all others
View: Excellent
Bonus: Princess Arch and Little Princess Arch trails can be combined easily
Others: Great for wildflowers in spring and many rhodedendron and mountain laurel with easy hiking. There are only 2 picnic tables in the parking area and one is not accessible. Hope able body people will use the picnic table adjacent to the bathroom.

ReplyDeleteHi there! My fiance and I will be hiking to a scenic overlook, having our little ceremony performed in front of 15 of our closest friends and family and I am desperately looking for a location to do so. I found this link with an area that look so ideal for what we want:

I live in Cleveland so I am not familiar with the area. I stumbled upon a post you had made that looked like it had a similar location. Could you please tell me if a) the above "handicapped accessible wedding ceremony site" is the same as one in your photos on this blog.
And b) if it is the same location..where this is?
We are looking for an overlook that is off the beaten path, that is private, and still easily accessible so our grandparents can also come. We'd appreciate any help you can provide. :) Please feel to e-mail me directly at Offbeatbridekimberly44@gmail.com since I don't use these forms regularly. Thanks so much!
Sincerely Yours,
Kimberly
Hi, Kimberry,
DeleteI forgot about this Website I created as my personal life got a bit crazier. Congratulations! It must be a great time to plan for your new life.
t is not the same spot but those photos in the mytiny...Website are in the same area, Red River Gorge. I'm not certain where these were taken but, judging from some sort of memorial, it may be a side stop along the road that leads to the spot on my Blogspot. It seems views from Chimney Rock are much more spectacular; however, it is a very popular spot among local hikers/sightseers on the weekend and on major holidays. On the other hand, on a weekday, you will only encounter a few other groups at this spot.
Either way would work for your plan. If you are worried about your grandparents, check out the Sky Bridge Overlook as 90% of the people who visit this Sky Bridge skip that little overlook trail. The handicap parking is only 30-40 steps away from the overlook.
You may want to check out the Koomer Ridge campsite that is also nice.
I will follow up with you if I have time later next week.
Sincerely,
Yumiko
